WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

We are part of City Life Church Southampton and have our core beliefs at the heart of the Christian faith.

​We believe in change. We believe in getting stuck in and changing the culture around us. We believe in working alongside people,  nurturing people and giving people hope.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The barriers to employment; whether it be qualifications, experience or literacy; are causing idleness and a lack of self worth in our community.

People are often found out of work and dependent on food banks and free lunches to survive. While these services offer hope to those who are suffering temporarily low income, it should not become a dependence and create a cycle of rescuing individuals from their sorrows.

​This idleness can lead to isolation which creates a further sense of worthlessness . Worthlessness causes further idleness and a lack of desire to work or be active in their community.

THEORY OF CHANGE

Providing a source of income or self esteem through work should create within individuals a desire to live in different circumstances and equip them with skills to continue on their journey to financial freedom and resourcefulness.

Removing the barriers to work that currently exist by accepting people without qualifications and skills will lead to an improved self worth and ignite a desire to continue to be involved in their local community.

VISION

The vision for the Greenhouse landscaping project is to become a well respected social landscaping enterprise that trains and equips dozens of volunteers, apprentices or general workers with all the skills needed to hold down a steady job and thrive in the workplace.

MISSION

The mission for the Greenhouse landscaping project is to engage with local people in need of work or companionship and help them develop a holistic approach to life.
